Visual In-situ Sensing for Inertial Orbits of NanoSats (VISION)

Building a modular CubeSat tracking system that will use a Kalman filter to estimate CubeSats’ relative position using data from two optical sensors, then estimate the CubeSats’ inertial orbit and output two-line elements (TLEs).

Space Communications and Navigation Intern

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

Built an interactive mission model of all current and future NASA missions in STK to aid in network loading analysis. Model was commissioned by NASA HQ and laid groundwork for a future model that will further consolidate NASA databases, assist in ground station placement, and allow for planning of future missions.

Image Processing Research Assistant

Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research

Develped MATLAB code to extract the trajectories of CubeSats using deployment footage from any uncalibrated camera. Authored and presented on this research at an American Astronautical Society Conference and won second place in Student innovations in GNC.

Science Team Lead

RocketSat 12

Built a sounding rocket payload that measured S band signals transmitted by the NEXRAD Doppler Radar Network. Sounding rocket launched from Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, and our payload successfully predicted the mode that NEXRAD was operating in.

RocketSat 11

Partnered with a local Colorado company called ROCCOR to build a payload that imaged and analyzed the deployment of a composite boom. Our payload successfully deployed the boom and delivered a detailed characterization of the deployment to ROCCOR.
